Bio
Her first memory was at three, cutting up (repurposing) her clothing; making necklaces by taping marbles onto string; always begging for paints or charcoal, and utilizing any surface she could find. Always loving painting, creating is an essential part of her. She started painting on canvas with her grandmother in 3rd grade, taking classes at local community centers, and eventually studying art in college. Mia has continued to paint and now, finally, is sharing her work again.
Mia grew up in the Bay Area, lived and studied in Portland (OR), Manhattan, and abroad in East Africa. She received grants to return to Uganda and Kenya to complete the photography work started there. She had shows, published, and was awarded in her 20’s. After a stint in the corporate world, she has returned home to what she loves most, studying and creating art.
Mia now lives in the Washington, DC area with her two wonderful children and their beloved Newfoundland dog, Gus.
